April is a big month for plantings and other projects that involve digging. That’s why it’s also National Safe Digging Month.  Before you start digging, one simple step can prevent property damage – or worse.

Call 811 at least two business days before you start a big dig on your property.

There’s no cost to you and it’s required by law.

One phone call to 811 will help you dig safely.  The owners of any underground facilities, like natural gas pipes and electric wires, will be notified and mark their locations.  Calling 811 automatically routes you directly to the one call center in your area within the United States.  The state map below provides you with additional details on each 811 center as well as specific guidelines for your state.
